Hypertension

With high blood pressure, the arteries may have an increased resistance against the blood flow causing the heart to pump harder to circulate the blood. Since high blood pressure itself usually has no signs or minor symptoms (headache, neck pain, dizziness, palpitations, etc), it is known to be a silent killer as it directly increases the risk of coronary heart disease (heart attack) and stroke. The condition can damage your heart, blood vessels, kidneys, eyes and other parts of your body if it goes undiagnosed. That’s why knowing your blood pressure and checking them regularly is important.

Diabete Mellitus

Diabetes is a health condition where blood sugar levels are higher than normal. With wide range of symptoms, approximately 84 million American adults currently have prediabetes and of those, 9 out of 10 people don’t know they have it. Prediabetes puts you at increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes, as well as, heart disease and stroke. Untreated or uncontrolled diabetes may results in severe complications such as diabetic retinopathy in 5 years, peripheral neuropathy in 7-8 years, and distinctive nephropathy in 15 years. Diabetic complications can occur in any parts of the body leading to severe irreversible damage.

Hyperlipidemia

Hyperlipidemia generally refers to a high level of cholesterol (fat) in the blood, which ultimately forms plaques causing inflammation. Plaques build up in the walls of the arteries and narrow the opening for the blood flow. Over time, the heart may not get enough oxygen causing coronary artery disease or a heart attack. It can lead to a stroke if the plaque builds up in the arteries of the brain. However, blood cholesterol is very specific to each individual and, for that reason, regular physical exam and full lipid profile is essential in adequate care of your health.

Arthritis

One of the most common causes of knee pain and immobility is wearing the cartilage lining. When it happens, the bones rub against each other causing significant pain and swelling (osteoarthritis). Even at young ages, trauma and direct injury to the knee can cause osteoarthritis. WMG physicians provide safe and conservative management utilizing steroidal and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs along with physical therapy and cortisone injections to effectively relieve pain and restore your mobility.
